A few years ago, I wrote a Pirates of the Caribbean ficlet inspired by a conversation on the Broken Compass forum (now the Black Pearl) about the numerous "Jack has a kid" (generally a daughter) fics. While most seemed to imagine Captain Sparrow stuck with a teenage daughter, I tried to imagine what life on ship would be with a baby on board. Especially if the kid had a bit of a temper. Literally, it would be a living hell :D

Recently, FFnet made it possible to put "covers" to match our stories, provided that the author owns the image. So this is the cover for Mind the Brat. If anyone wants to read it, it's short, it's silly, and it's there [link] :)

Not really - the happy (right) mother's name is Juanita, and I wrote it about three years before OST came out =P

I suppose if Captain Sparrow were burdened with a baby he would look like this in very short order. Distress and agitation can drive a man to drink but Jack doesn't really need to be driven.

A clever and entertaining depiction of the good captain. I still like your use of simple backgrounds to anchor the characters in the scene. Nice color work, too.

Thanks a lot :) The colour work was quick, to say the least, because originally I thought nobody would be able to see the image as anything other than a tiny thumbnail (FFnet later changed settings so that you can have a closer look at cover images when you click on them). But I'm glad you like it. I do suppose Captain Sparrow would have the modicum of conscience required in order not to throw a wailing infant overboard, but it would be a close one :D

Thank you very much :) I think that's his expression in the first few hours, because I'm picturing him looking much more murderous after a little more time with the brat :D
